The St. Landry Parish Council on Aging Mardi Gras Dance was held Monday afternoon at the Northwest Center with music and dancing. Big J & the Zydeco Dogpound provided music for seniors 60+ age to enjoy.

Contests were held and judged for the Most Traditional & Prettiest Costume, King & Queen, and Best Dancing Male & Female.

Judges were Eunice Police Chief Ronald Dies, Judy Johnson of Eunice Extended Care, Theresa Stelly of CLHH, Theme Ledee of St. Landry TRIAD, and Julie Russo of Acadian on Call.

King and Queen crowned were Charles Dugas of Eunice and Lorita Ashford of Basile. Winning the Best Male and Female Dancer were Shirley Trahan and Wallace Trahan of Port Barre; Prettiest Costume winner was Christy Manuel of Eunice; and Most Traditional Costume winners were Fernella Sonnier and Whitney Sonnier of Branch.

Refreshments of gumbo and King Cake were served.
