Ten employees at Lane Regional Medical Center were nominated by patients, family members, physicians and/or colleagues for The STAR Award for Achieving Excellence.

Lane’s STAR Award Honoree is Shaneka Johnson.

Johnson, a certified nursing assistant, has been employed at Lane for 20 years. She is currently a unit tech on the telemetry unit and is responsible for various duties including observing patients on telemetry monitors and assisting with patient care.

Johnson was also named Lane’s Employee of the Month in February 2011 and was the 1999 Employee of the Year.

A native of Clinton, she and her husband, Samuel Johnson, III, reside in Ethel. They have five sons and one daughter. In her spare time, Johnson enjoys spending time with her family, helping others in need and fishing. She attends Restoration Church in Clinton.

Johnson was shocked when her name was announced as the STAR Award Honoree. “I definitely was not expecting this! I truly enjoy my job and it means a lot to be recognized,” Johnson said.

At the recent award presentation, Johnson received a certificate commending her for “Achieving Excellence, Every Person, Every Time”, a beautiful crystal sculpture, a Visa gift card and an extra vacation day.

The nine other STAR Award Nominees are: Chris Benoit, Cardiology Services; Theresa Daniel, Emergency Department; Kimberly Ford, Environmental Services; Dawn Hankins, 1st South; Judy Martin-Lafleur, Emergency Department: Evelyn Schilling, Imaging; April Tillman, 2nd South; Teresa Webb, Laboratory; and Karen Williams, Cardiology Services.
