“Camelot” run continues this week
Tickets for the Eunice Players’ Theatre summer musical, “Camelot”, are now on sale.
This legendary musical, starring Darrel LeJeune as King Arthur and Angie B. McBride as Queen Guenevere, will run today through July 28, 31 and Aug. 1, 2 and 4 with curtain at 7 p.m.
There will be a Sunday matinee on July 29 at 2 p.m.

Central Middle
registration today
Central Middle School will hold its registration for the upcoming school term today for fifth-graders from 9 a.m. until noon for last names A-L, and again for last names M-Z from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Registration for sixth-graders will be Friday from 9 a.m. until noon for last names A-L, and again from 1- 3 p.m. for last names M-Z.
Parents must bring proof of residency (utility bill, water, gas, electricity) $30 registration fee and students must be in their school uniforms to take an ID picture.
MLK Committee
meeting today
The City-Wide MLK Celebration Committee is meeting monthly to plan the 2013 celebration.
The next meeting will be today at 6 p.m. at the Southeast Center. The committee meets on the fourth Thursday of every month.

EJHS announces registration July 30
Registration for seventh and eighth graders at Eunice Jr. High School will be held on Monday from 7:30 a.m until 2:30 p.m.
Students must be present with a legal guardian and are asked to wear their uniform shirts for ID pictures.
Registration fees are $50. To register, a parent or guardian must present current July or August 2012 utility bill, electricity, water or gas bill in order to register.
New registrants from outside the public school system must have birth certificate, social security card, updated immunization records, final report card from 2011/2012 school year and spring 2012 standardized test scores.

United Way holds school supply drive
The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way is asking local communities to help “Stuff the Bus”, a school supply drive for local students and teachers, from Monday to Aug. 3.
Items needed include backpacks, crayons, calculators, paper towels, scissors, three-ring binders, folders, markers, pencils, pens, hand sanitizer, rulers, paper, glue sticks and more.
Walmart gift cards and cash will also be accepted.
Items can be taken to Eunice Winn Dixie, Donald Gardner Stadium on Union Street across from Walgreen’s and next to the fire station in Opelousas, or City Hall in Ville Platte from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 30 - Aug. 3. Volunteers are needed to accept donations. Donations will be for students and teachers!

EHS sets registration Jul. 31
Eunice High School will hold its fall registration for the 2012-2013 school year on Tuesday from 8:30 until noon for tenth-through twelfth-graders.
Freshmen registration will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
New students who did not attend St. Landry Parish schools will have registration on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 8:30 a.m.
In order to prove residency, all students must provide the school with a copy of their most current electric bill. Only electric bills will be accepted. The copy must show the parent/guardian’s name and the physical address. Copies will NOT be made at school. Students will not be allowed to register without a proof of residency.
The registration fee will be $75 per student and must be paid at the time of registration.

ABC Ladies Retreat Aug. 3

Word of Life Car Raffle set Aug. 4
The Word of Life Fellowship and Academy will be raffling off a clean, grey 2006 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle has great gas mileage and has an extended warranty.
The raffle will be held Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. at 3304 Hwy. 190 E in Eunice. Winner need not be present and is responsible for tax, title and license.

Back to School Fun Day set Aug. 4
An annual Back to School Fun Day will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Southeast Center beginning at 10 a.m.
The event, sponsored by Parent’s Outreach Club and Black Men Make A Difference Club, will have guest speaker Laura Balthazar of Opelousas.
School supplies will be issued and members of the NAUW will be giving out school uniforms and coats collected over the summer months.
Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the program.

Blood Drive coming
to city on Aug. 6
The 14th annual 99.1 KXKC and United Blood Services Tour de Life Blood Drive will be at the Eunice Walmart on Monday, Aug. 6 from noon until 6 p.m.
United Blood Services and 99.1 KXKC will visit several locations throughout Acadiana in an effort to increase our community blood supply.
UBS is urging the public to donate blood as donations across Acadiana have dipped this summer and blood usage has increased.
All Tour de Life donors will receive a special:

Open House
at Highland Aug. 7
There will be an Open House at Highland Elementary on Tuesday, Aug. 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Open House will begin in the school’s cafeteria where there will be an introduction of the staff and afterwards parents are invited to the classrooms.
Parents may bring their child’s school supplies during this time and pay their child’s activity fee of $30.
