O'Brien has experience in critical care and internal medicine from her work at a referral hospital in LaPlace. O'Brien is married to Gregory O’Brien, an officer in the Louisiana National Guard, who has served in Iraq.
The couple has five dogs whom they love very much: Maximus, Colt, Carli, Little Bit and Sammy. O'Brien's mother, Connie Gilbert, teaches math at Zachary High School, and O'Brien says she's already a huge Bronco fan. In her spare time, Dr. O'Brien enjoys the outdoors, reading and spoiling her two-year-old niece.
