Fifty-year-old Jacqueline Murray, who lived near the fatal scene on Arkansas Street, pulled out in front of a van, said Baker Police Chief Mike "Snapper" Knaps.
Surveillance footage from a nearby gas station showed Murray, who was traveling north on Hwy. 19, pulled out from Coolidge Street onto La. 19 in front of the van, Knaps said.
The driver attempted to apply the brakes in time to stop but could not, said Chief Knaps.
The accident occurred about 2:50 p.m. Murray was transported to Lane Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Two other passengers, plus Murray's daughter, 19, and son, 16, sustained moderate injuries in the crash and were also transported to area hospitals, Knaps reported.
All are expected to recover.
Knaps said Murray is the first person to die in a motor vehicle accident in Baker since February 2008.
