The Broncos had their chance to stay undefeated on the season, but Thibodaux took advantage of a late Zachary miscue to grab a 32-20 win last Friday night.

With the game tied in the fourth quarter, Zachary fumbled a lateral and Victor Bimah returned it 55 yards for the critical touchdown.

Thibodaux would add a 32-yard touchdown run by Donta Johnson to seal the upset victory.

Zachary grabbed an early lead as Trey Hills connected with Donald Gage for a 68-yard touchdown. Jacob Garret’s PAT pushed the Broncos ahead, 7-0.

Thibodaux responded as Jason Richard scored a 59-yard run, but the Broncos still lead after a blocked extra point attempt.

After a Zachary fumble, the Tigers moved ahead 12-7 on a 2-yard run by Johnson.

The Broncos scored the only points in the second period as Justin Kinchen caught a 30-yard scoring strike from Hills and Garret’s PAT provided Zachary a 14-12 lead at the break.

Thibodaux reclaimed the lead in the third period when Jaquan Chenier scored from five yards out. Johnson ran in the two-point conversion, which put the Tigers ahead, 20-14.

Zachary tied the game in the fourth quarter when Hills connected with Scott for a 30-yard touchdown, but a failed extra point prevented the Broncos from taking the lead.

The Tigers then sealed the win with the two final scores of the game.

Johnson led the way for Thibodaux with 165 rushing yards on 19 carries with two TDs.

ZHS Bronco receiver Gage finished with 128 yards and one score.

Hills completed 21-of-33 passes for 237 passing yards, but also threw three interceptions.

Zachary (1-1) entertains East Feliciana (2-0) this week. East Feliciana rolled to a 37-8 win over Capitol last Friday.
