Members of Zachary Karate School, 4729 Main St., participated in the 2012 World Tang Soo Do Tournament in Chicago this summer.

Two of the female Karate students, Jolie Allen, a 2nd-degree Black Belt, and Madison Weems, a Red Belt, each won silver medals in their divisions.

Allen won for weapons, and Weems won for forms and sparring.

Brothers Andrew Peterson, a Red Belt, and William Peterson, a Green Belt, also competed.

Friends H.G. Frazee and Hunter Sibley, both 1st-degree Black Belts, competed as well.

Jesse Smith, a Red Belt, won silver in forms and sparring and participant Mike Gremillion, a 3rd-degree Black Belt, also attended the tournament.

A very special thanks goes out to Larry and Cheryl Taylor and the students of Zachary Karate, for their dedication to the sport of Karate, while Master Mike McGee continues to fight his battle against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
