The Regional Arts Council of Zachary (RACZ) invites businesses and residents to mark their calendars for Zachary’s inaugural Fall Art Crawl set for this Saturday, Sept. 29, from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Zachary.

The Fall Art Crawl is a free art-promoting event designed to stimulate local economy, as well as promote local artists.

RACZ invites neighboring communities to attend Zachary’s first Fall Art Crawl event.

Twenty-one participating business will feature 29 local artists by displaying and selling their artwork inside and outside their businesses throughout the evening.

RACZ paired the artists with the businesses, and in exchange for the business hosting the artists, a percentage of any artwork sold will be donated back to the business.

Theatrical productions by local performers and live music will be featured at several stops along the art crawl route, which will be lit with luminarias.

In addition, there will be a wine and beer tasting held inside the Zachary Chamber of Commerce. Legal drinking age requirements will be strictly enforced, and no alcohol will be permitted outside the Chamber.

Artwork displays will begin in the Gift Gallery Florist/Shag Studio shopping center, located at 4908 Main St., and end at JoLynn’s Boutique next to Zachary United Methodist Church. Parking will be available along the route, as well as at businesses and churches along Main Street.

Zachary's Fall Art Crawl is modeled after the Baton Rouge Mid-City Merchants' District art hops such as White Light Nights and Hot Art, Cool Nights.

Also on Saturday, the Zachary Artists Guild will host a Silent Auction Fundraiser during the art crawl from 6-9 p.m. at the Chamber building, 4633 Main St.

All are welcome to bid on original artwork by ZAG artists. Watercolor, oil, photography, acrylic, picture books and chain saw carvings will be some of the mediums featured.

Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit ZAG, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the Zachary area. For more information about the auction, please contact Margaret Harmon at 225-788-5999.

In addition, children ages 4+ can be dropped off at Zachary Karate, 4729 Main St., and entertained throughout the evening. Cost is $20 per child. All proceeds will benefit Mike McGee, owner of Zachary Karate, who is battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The Fall Art Crawl is a fundraiser for RACZ, which works to promote art, artists and art related events in the Zachary area.

RACZ is a non-profit organization whose mission supports, encourages, cultivates and enhances all forms of art in Zachary and surrounding communities.
