The Zachary Area Reading Council is sponsoring a community book drive to help replace books that were lost and damaged at Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School due to Hurricane Isaac.

ZARC is collecting gently used children’s books which will be donated to the teachers of Lake Pontchartrain Elementary.

ZARC would like to collect books geared for students in grades Pre-K thru the 8th.

If you would like to donate, please drop off books at Zachary Elementary's front office located on 39th Street or at the Bank of Zachary between Tuesday, Oct. 9 - Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Please donate only books which are in good, usable condition!

"After witnessing the success of the ZES Has Heart fundraiser, and learning of the devastation in LaPlace, ZARC is hoping to make a sizable donation to help teachers replenish their classroom libraries," ZARC representative and ZES teacher Megan Noel said. "We hope this drive will be successful and show that the entire community of Zachary has heart!"
