BREC’s Outdoor Adventure team hosts October paddling events

BREC’s Outdoor Adventure team will host several canoeing and kayaking events during the month of October throughout East Baton Rouge Parish.

• On Wed., Oct. 10 at 11 a.m., BREC’s Adult Leisure Team will host the Paddle Up 1 – Launch and Lunch adventure. Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of recreational kayaking at the beautiful Greenwood Waterfront, 13350 Hwy. 19, Baker, followed by a delicious salad lunch. The fee is $15 per person and space is limited to 15 participants.

• On Wed., Oct 17 at 9 a.m., BREC’s Adult Leisure Department will once again team up with the Outdoor Adventure team for Paddle Up 2 – Peaceful Paddling. This program is for those who have completed Paddle Up 1 and would like to explore the waters of University Lake at Wampold Park, 901 Stanford Ave.,

Baton Rouge, with a relaxing morning paddle. The fee is $5 and the trip is limited to 10 participants.

• On Oct. 20 at 9 a.m., BREC will host Paddle Up 3 – Comite River. Interested participants who have completed Paddle Up 1 and 2 can register for a two-hour adventure paddle down the lovely Comite River from Joor Road to the Waddill Wildlife Refuge. The fee is $10 per person and the trip is limited to 10 participants, ages 8 and older. An adult must accompany children, ages 8-11.

• On Wed., Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m., interested participants who have completed Paddle Up 1, 2, and 3 can register for a 3 hour adventure paddle down the scenic Bogue Chitto River, north of Covington. The fee is $15 per person and space is limited to 10 participants, ages 12 and older.
