Northeast improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in District 7-2A with a 27-20 homecoming win over Redemptorist High School on Friday, Oct. 5.

The Vikings jumped out to a 13-0 first quarter lead on a pair of David Chatman runs of 6 and 24 yards and a PAT by Guillermo Diaz.

Dominick Yates scored on a 1-yard run in the second period, and Darryl Adams ran in the two-point conversion to give the VIkings a 21-0 advantage.

Redemptorist scored a touchdown in the second, third and fourth quarters to account for the Wolves’ 20 points, including a pair of 34-yard and 85-yard scoring passes from Russell Gage.

NHS's Adams scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter for the winning touchdown before RHS quarterback Gage hit his long 85-yard scoring strike.

Adams had 152 yards on 12 carries and a score, while Yates finished with 126 yards on 22 carries and a score.

The Northeast Vikings travel to Dunham (3-3, 0-1), who lost 18-7 to Capitol in their district opener last Friday.

In addition, it was Northeast's Homecoming game.

The nine young ladies chosen for the NHS court were escorted onto the field during halftime, when the queen was announced.

The 2012 NHS Homecoming Queen is Ms. Ladaya James.

She and NHS Homecoming King Trey Fisher were part of a spectacular halftime show that also included Northeast High JROTC and the NHS Dancin Divas.

Homecoming court maids were:

Seniors Taylor Young and Veronica Pierson
