The state's municipal attorneys will gather for their annual fall conference this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13, at The Embassy Suites Hotel in Baton Rouge. The conference provides a continuing legal education opportunity for attorneys who represent the state’s villages, towns and cities as well as those from other local political subdivisions.

LCAA President Neil T. Erwin, village attorney for the Village of Grand Cane, will preside at the two-day conference.

Workshop sessions are scheduled on current topics in employment law; recent developments in Louisiana tort law; ethics for municipal officials and employees; defending a federal lawsuit arising from a municipal land-use decision; municipal finance developments; implementation of the 2008 ozone standard; professionalism and social media; and best practices in municipal client representation.

Speakers include Michael D. Dupree, deputy general counsel with the Louisiana Ethics Administration Program, and these attorney-presenters from the Kean Miller law firm in Baton Rouge – Erin L. Kilgore, Amanda Collura, Shannan S. Rieger, Angela W. Adolph, Tokesha M. Collins, Katie D. Bell and Lana D. Crump.

Participants can earn up to eight hours of continuing legal education credit from the Louisiana State Bar Association at this conference.

The LCAA’s members will conduct a business meeting on Saturday morning at which they will elect its 2012-2013 slate of officers.

The Louisiana City Attorneys Association is an affiliate organization of the Louisiana Municipal Association based in Baton Rouge.
