"We will begin picking people up some time during the month of November," said McDavid. "It's strongly urged that anyone who has an outstanding warrant contact Zachary City Court to resolve the matter immediately...or risk being picked up from your home or business by police officers."
The ZPD warrant lists, which appear weekly in the Zachary Plainsman-News, are part of an effort to clear them from the Zachary legal system.
Every other Wednesday warrants are processed before City Court Judge Lonny Myles.
"By publishing the lists, we're hoping to avoid showing up at someone's house or office and taking them into custody in front of their neighbors or co-workers," McDavid said.
"It has helped, but now we're taking a more aggressive approach."
McDavid said the types of warrants in the system range from speeding and improper parking violations to the more serious offenses of issuing worthless checks and drug possession.
However, all offenses reach warrant status due to non-payment or neglecting a court date.
If your name appears on the following warrant list, please contact Zachary City Court immediately at 225-654-0044 to resolve the matter or attend court on the first or third Wednesday of the month.
Zachary City Court is located at 4510 Main St. next door to the police department.
