Capt. Gordon Lipscomb spearheaded a fundraiser that had Zachary businesses "purchasing" the helmets for $300 each.
Each company that bought a pink helmet has its name inscribed on the helmet, which will be worn by a Zachary firefighter.
After the month of October is up, the business will get to display the helmet for the rest of the year inside its location.
Next year, if the business chooses to participate again, the cost to purchase a helmet is $100. Each year the business participates, that year will also be inscribed on the helmet.
In all, about 52 local businesses joined in the fundraiser that donates all monies raised to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to be used for breast cancer research.
Several of the ZFD firefighters have loved ones who survived or lost the battle against breast cancer.
