The Zachary PTO helped organize the fundraiser along with Superior Ford of Zachary, and together they set a goal of $6,000.
Residents participated by taking free test drives in the Ford model vehicle of their choice in efforts to help raise funds for ZHS. The money will go toward athletics, music, drama, teaching aids - any area where it's needed.
For each participant who got behind the wheel, Superior Ford donated $20.
The Drive One 4 UR School program was initially developed as a fun, engaging way to help high schools raise money to support their sports and extracurricular activities.
The initiative has raised more than $10 million through nearly 3,000 events since its inception in 2007, and provides up to $6,000 per school via test drives of Ford products.
Brian Guidry, of Superior Ford, said he felt confident the final goal of $6,000 was met with the help of the Zachary community.
Superior Ford representatives on site included: Patrick and Melissa Campbell, Brian Guidry, Jennifer Martell, Renee McNatt and Ralph Quinn.
ZHS Principal Wes Watts and PTO members Sharon Ventura, Joyce Newton, Jill Goss and others volunteered for the event.
