A three-day Mold Control and Remediation training course from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 23-25 will provide technicians and contractors with information and methods needed to successfully perform safe and effective mold remediation, said LSU AgCenter extension housing specialist Claudette Reichel.
“Industry standards and procedures will be covered, and participants will gain insights into mold charachteristics, moisture dynamics and building science principles critical not only to mold removal but also to source investigation and long-term control, which fosters healthy homes,” Reichel said.
Completing this course fulfills initial training requirements for a Mold Remediation Contractor license and is eligible for 24 CEUs for Louisiana Redidential Contractors. The course also includes a detailed manual.
LaHouse also will offer its next Lead Certified Renovator training session on Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All paid contractors, maintenance workers, painters, firms and others performing renovation, repair and painting (RRP) projects are required to be lead-certified for the EPA/HUD Lead RRP Rule, Reichel said.
The eight-hour course is eligible for eight CEUs for Louisiana Residential Contractors and includes a course book, hands-on activites and certification test. Official certificates will be issued to individuals who complete the course and pass the certification test through the National Center for Healthy Housing (NCHH), a nationwide EPA-accredited RRP training provider.
