The Zachary Rotary Club spearheaded the effort, and with the help of local clubs, organizations and individuals, $30,000 was generously donated in funding for the cemetery's restoration project.
One of the renovations included having a wrought iron fence erected around the cemetery. In August, it was discovered that a section of the fence had been badly damaged.
Several Rotarians have filed a police report with the Zachary Police Department and are asking anyone with information on who is responsible for the damage to please call 225-937-4443.
The fence sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage, said Det. Ty Stephens, ZPD. Anyone witnessing the vehicle or person(s) responsible is urged to also call 654-1905.
Stephens said the damage was discovered on Aug. 14 but is unknown when it actually ocurred. Several panels of the fence were ruined.
