Sixty-two people began the fitness challenge and 29 finished with a combined weight-loss total of 250 pounds, 132 inches and 119.3 percent body fat or Body Mass Index!
The grand prize winner, Kathi Brumley, won $1,000 that was generously donated by sponsors L.I.F.E. (Living in Fitness Everyday) and Waste Management.
Laura O'Brien, owner of Fitness Design for Women, coordinated the efforts of all the weight-loss participants, which included employees from the City of Zachary, the Fire and Police Departments and the Department of Public Works.
Several people were recognized for their extraordinary efforts: Dale Kimmery (DPW) lost 28 lbs., Scott Masterson (DPW) lost 27 lbs. and Peggy Miller (CoZ) lost 19.5 lbs.
Rewarded for inspiring others throughout the competition were Firefighter David Hughes (ZFD) and Joyce Judson (CoZ), who each received prizes donated by local businesses.
Brumley, Secretary to Mayor David Amrhein, lost the most combined weight (27 lbs.) plus inches and BMI, putting her at the top as the overall winner.
In addition, Lane RMC's Dr. Stephen Jones, Sports Medicine/Family Practice physician, monitored each participant's chart throughout the challenge offering support and medical advice at all weigh-ins.
