The Zachary High School Homecoming Parade was held Friday, Oct. 19, and rolled down Main Street to the Bank of Zachary parking lot, where it turned left and traveled back up Lee Street to the high school.

The parade's theme was Hooray for Hollywood and had Zachary schools competing for the best float.

All ZCSD schools were involved in the parade, as well as clubs, organizations and spirit groups.

The Zachary Police Department led the parade, providing a safe path for students' floats and ensuring crowds maintained a safe distance from passing paraders.

Zachary Elementary, in conjunction with Fitness Design for Women, choreographed a Flash Mob dance, a first for Zachary, in front of Charlet Funeral Home on Main Street.

The flash mob was a crowd favorite, as were the Zachary High Bronco Belles, who were walking zombies.

The ZHS Homecoming Court was certainly part of the procession, following the annual tradition of having the maids travel in convertible cars waving to the community as they passed.

Later that evening, ZHS defeated Walker High 49-18 for the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Senior Maid Destiny Johnson, escorted by her brother Byron Johnson II, was crowned 2012 ZHS Homecoming Queen.

She was chosen by the ZHS student body.
