But those were the only points Zachary (5-4, 1-3) would score as Live Oak grabbed a 21-7 District 4-5A win Friday night, Oct. 27.
Live Oak (5-4, 2-2) tied the game later in the first quarter when Michael Claverie scored on a 2-yard run, and Cameron Simmons added the PAT.
In the second period, the Eagles took a 14-7 lead on Claverie’s 19-yard scoring throw to Jarrett Williams.
The Eagles sealed the win in the third period when Wesley Howard scored on a 3-yard run, and Simmons hit the extra point.
Trailing by two touchdowns, the Broncos threatened three times inside the Live Oak 20, but failed to score. Zachary suffered two interceptions and a lost fumble on the night.
The Broncos finished with 143 yards rushing and 108 passing, while Live Oak had 152 yards on the ground and 153 through the air.
Boston Scott led Zachary with 84 yards rushing. Trey Hills was 13-for-29 for 108 yards with two interceptions.
Claverie was 12-of-21 for 153 yards for the Eagles, and Howard ran 17 times for 61 yards.
Sitting at No. 14 in the LHSAA power rankings (after eight games), Zachary closes the regular season at home against No. 29 Denham Springs (5-4, 2-2) on Friday, Nov. 2.
It will also be Senior Night for the ZHS Broncos.
