Christopher Cope was convicted after about an hour’s deliberation of shooting Sgt. Timothy Prunty in October 2010.
Cope was found guilty of shooting Prunty, a 19-year veteran of the department, while the officer visited with clerk outside of a Circle K in southwest Shreveport just after 3:30 a.m.
Prunty was hit by five of the 14 bullets Cope fired from his .40 caliber handgun in the direction of him and the clerk.
