The types of warrants can be bench warrants, which are issued by Zachary City Court Judge Lonny Myles, or affidavit warrants written and issued by police officers or detectives.
Police Chief David McDavid said he and the department intend to take a more aggressive approach in locating individuals with outstanding warrants. "One way is to continue publishing the warrants in the paper and online, but also to begin featuring the photos of individuals with multiple warrants and who cannot be located," McDavid said. "It's not necessarily the severity of the crime but that these individuals cannot be located."
McDavid said the ZPD considers all offenses and violations serious ones, and they will continue to do everything possible to clear the warrants from the city court dockets.
