Needing the win, the Zachary High Broncos found themselves the victors over the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets, 46-41, on Friday, Nov. 2.

ZHS finishes the overall season with a 6-4, 2-3 record in District 4-5A.

Denham Springs ends at 5-5, 2-3.

It looked as if the Broncos would maintain their 18-6 cushion going into the half, but the Yellow Jackets came back twice late in the game played inside Bronco Stadium.

In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets came within five points at 25-20.

But ZHS pulled ahead by 19 in the fourth quarter leaving the Broncos with comfortable lead.

The Yellow Jackets were not done, however, and scored twice late in the fourth.

For the Zachary senior players, it was a sweet victory finishing their last game at home with a 46-41 win.

Quarterback Trey Hills completed 15 of 26 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a TD.

The neighboring community of Central celebrates the Wildcats clinching the 4-5A District Champ title with Friday's 56-27 win over Live Oak.
