BATON ROUGE--The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging will host their annual Thanksgiving luncheon on Friday, Nov. 16.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. at the Belle of Baton Rouge Atrium. The Council on Aging expects to feed over 600 seniors at this holiday event.

The event this year is sponsored by EBRCOA and People's Health.

Each year, the local, non-profit agency provides a sit-down meal for the parish’s senior citizens. With some elderly having no family close-by, the meal provided at this annual event is often the only semblance of a Thanksgiving meal these seniors will enjoy.

Expecting a full house this year, the EBRCOA is thrilled to partner with Peoples Health and the Belle of Baton Rouge.

“We are honored to provide this meal to those who once cared for us; especially during economic times such as these,” says Tasha Clark-Amar, EBRCOA Executive Director. “Without the financial support of our sponsors, we could not continue to provide such an event. We would like to thank our community partners for affording us the opportunity to ensure that Thanksgiving is a bit brighter for our endearing elderly.”

There will be great food, fellowship, encouraging words of Thanksgiving from Senator Sharon Weston Broome, Pro Tempore.

In addition, there will be plenty of dancing to make this a memorable event for all those in attendance.

The EBRCOA is most grateful to Peoples Health and the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel for their help in making the holidays truly special for the senior citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish.
