The contract, which expires June 30, 2015, will honor a base salary of $148,000 per year for Deviller with potential earnings of a 2.5 percent increase in his salary for each year that he receives a mark of proficient or higher from the school board during his annual evaluation.
However, Devillier would not receive a raise in a year in which salaries of all other district employees are frozen by the board.
In addition, he will receive a $700 per month fuel allowance in lieu of a gas card.
Devillier was chosen as the district's new superintendent after a thorough search ended Oct. 25. He replaces Warren Drake who was in the leadership position for 10 years.
The board said it would begin to advertise for Devillier's old position of Director of Operations, as well as a new position Devillier said he wanted in place during his interviews for superintendent.
The position created would be for the executive director of academics and support programs.
The Zachary school board will meet next on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.
