Southeast Community Health Systems (SCHS), a Federally Qualified Health Center, opened its newest location in Zachary on July 1, 2012. SCHS is a growing, diverse health system with seven locations in four parishes including East Baton Rouge, St. Helena, Livingston and Tangipahoa. The Zachary location, an 18,000 square foot facility, features six state of the art dental operatories, nine medical exam rooms, four behavioral health offices with cutting edge telemedicine equipment and an in-house pharmacy. The Zachary location also provides Women’s, Infants and Children (WIC) services. SCHS’ Zachary location is conveniently located across from Lane Memorial Hospital. The goal is to work collaboratively with other healthcare providers in the area to alleviate health disparities amongst the residents of Zachary and surrounding areas. SCHS is accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

The Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. The NCQA Seal is widely recognized as a symbol of quality. The organization is also in compliance with the Meaningful Use Requirements stipulated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 specifies three main components of Meaningful Use, all of which the organization is in compliance.

The use of a certified Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a meaningful manner, such as e-prescribing.

The use of certified EHR technology for electronic exchange of health information to improve quality of health care.

The use of certified EHR technology to submit clinical quality and other measures.
