BATON ROUGE--This week, Baton Rouge author Iris Floyd celebrates the nationwide release of her new novel, “Six-of-One.”

The book follows six women of different races, creeds, backgrounds and aspirations who have two things in common: a 10-year secret and desperation.

Residents in a deteriorating complex near downtown New Orleans, the women and their families form an unbreakable bond of friendship. But now that bond and their homes are being threatened. With the looming peril of eviction, a specter on the all-too-near horizon, their secret must come to an end.

Resolute, the Six-of-One Club wades into the unknown in the heart of the big city, a last deception that will either provide for or destroy their tenuous futures. Originally from the small farming town of Wisner, La., Floyd has lived almost her entire life in Louisiana - four years of it in the diverse, beautiful city of New Orleans. It was there she saw a sprawling, rundown but potentially beautiful apartment complex near downtown that intrigued her and became the inspiration years later for “Six-of-One.”

Floyd now resides in Baton Rouge.
