The City of Zachary is proud to showcase another talented artist from the Zachary Artist Guild and the Porcelain Art Guild at the City Hall Utility Office.

Local artist Thereza Weis is currently exhibiting six pieces of her artwork, including her beloved portraiture collection of animals.

Weis has been a resident of Zachary for the past 20 years and was born and raised in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, piano from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music, Rio DeJaneiro. She also studied three years in Art School of Campinas, located in San Paulo, Brazil, where she learned to paint in pastel, oil and charcoal.

Weis continued her lessons in voice and painting in porcelain after arriving in the United States. She enjoys painting landscapes, architecture and portraitures of people, as well as animals.

As an artist and pet lover, she is often called upon to paint pictures of family pets, which serve as a lasting tribute to man’s best friend.

This collection can be viewed through January during regular office hours, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Zachary utilities office located at 4650 Main St.
