The investigation revealed that a 2002 GMC Sierra was traveling north on La. 315 when it struck a pedestrian who was standing in the roadway for unknown reasons, Harrell said.
The Sierra was being driven by Jeffery Hardwick, 52, of Houma.
Hardwick, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured in the crash.
The pedestrian, Wayne Lark, 52, of Houma, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office, said Tpr. Harrell.
Lark was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash.
Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending for Lark.
Hardwick submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement. This crash remains under investigation.
Motorists who witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
