The Zachary Fire Department announces the beginning of a new fire prevention program that will donate and install smoke detectors to citizens who do not have them currently or who cannot install them.

The program is FREE and for all Zachary citizens.

For those wishing to receive the free service, the ZFD is requesting the name, address, phone number and number of people residing in the home.

Once the ZFD receives the total number of people wishing to use the service, it will begin the program immediately following the holidays.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is providing the Zachary Fire Department with the free smoke detectors.

For more information, Zachary citizens should call Capt. Ronald Hives, who is coordinating the fire prevention program, at 654-0026.
