Myers, a business owner and Chamber member, recently moved from a smaller dance studio in the Amazon Plaza shopping center at 6363 Main St. to one 3,000 more square feet of space to accomodate the more than 250 dancers she teaches each week.
Her dance studio has tripled in size since first opening in 2009.
Molly Myers Dance Academy is located in the same shopping center but now in the space formerly occupied by Anytime Fitness.
MMDA schedules about 17 classes each week of tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip/hop dance for students ranging in age from 2 -19. "I feel very blessed," Myers has said. "I couldn't have done this without the support of my family...especially my mom, Jill Myers."
Supporting Myers at the ribbon cutting ceremony were her mother, Jill, and grandparents Ann and Calvin Boudreaux. Several business, city and community leaders also attended the event: Ben Cavin, Todd Phenald, Glenn Triche, Brandon Noel, Mayor David Amrhein, Police Chief David McDavid, Cathy Beavers, Charmaine Efferson and Greg MacDougall.
