Crews for the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) are keeping a close eye on all BREC facilities, especially those close to waterways, while the wet weather continues in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Due to high water, crews have blocked the main entrance to Burbank Park, the southern portion of Highland Road Community Park near the archery range and the Fairgrounds side of Airline Highway Park.

Also, BREC has closed Santa Maria Golf Course due to backwater from nearby Bayou Manchac as well as the back nine holes of Beaver Creek Golf Course in Zachary.

All other golf courses remain playable and will open on days when the weather allows.

As this wet weather continues, BREC does offer several indoor opportunities for the public to enjoy and get moving.

A few examples include:

· Interactive Room at Womack Park located on Florida Boulevard

· Indoor Track, Indoor Playground and Virtual Park at North Sherwood Forest

· Indoor Tennis Facility at Independence Park

· BREC Fitness Centers (North Sherwood, Womack Park, Webb Park and Santa Maria)

· Team Automotive Sportsplex at the Perkins Road Park

· Baton Rouge Gallery at City Park

For more information, call 225-272-9200 or visit our website at www.brec.org.

It is the BREC mission to provide parks and recreational opportunities for all the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish.
