Americana, a new planned traditional neighborhood development in Zachary, has announced that the development’s YMCA is scheduled to open late Summer 2013.

The YMCA will be the first completed construction project on the property.

The 26,000 square-foot facility will be nestled on 5.25 acres of Americana’s 414-acre property and feature programming for children and adults of all ages, a fitness center, an aerobics room, a community meeting room, a six-lane heated pool and spray pad, a tennis pavilion and pro shop and six lighted hard tennis courts.

“The new YMCA is a huge component of our overall vision for Americana,” said Steven Oubre, Americana Master Planner. “We want Americana to be a place where families can get to know their neighbors and experience the convenience of traditional neighborhood living. The Capital Area YMCA’s emphasis on healthy living, programming for all ages and values centered around community are a perfect fit.”

In addition to the currently planned programs, the new YMCA will look to partner with others in the community that share emphasis on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

After the initial completion of the main facility later this year, evaluations will be made for a potential 18,000 square-foot expansion.
