Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in Louisiana and in the U.S. It kills more women each year than all forms of cancer combined.

About 200 businesses in Zachary and 150 in Baker are competing in a contest to Paint the Town Red by decorating their business door red.

On Thursday, Feb. 14, the mayor of each town will judge the front doors and select a winner.

Many City of Zachary employees are wearing red shirts today, Friday, Feb. 1, and will form a red “Z” on the Bronco football field at 2 p.m. with two young heart disease survivors, Julianne Caperton, 14, and Jack Dickson, 14.
