Compared to 2011, last year saw a decrease in the number of drunken driving incidents, robberies and homicides.
DWI's in 2011 numbered 53 compared to 39 in 2012; one homicide occurred in 2011 and; and robberies were also less, dropping from four to none.
However, McDavid's report showed in increase in larceny thefts, burglaries, drug arrests, rapes and adult arrests.
Larceny thefts increased from 258 in 2011 to 368 in 2012.
Burglaries rose from 10 to 26.
Drug arrests in 2011 totaled 92, compared to 99 last year.
Assaults increased from 110 to 127.
Rapes in 2012 totaled four, compared to one in 2011.
Adult arrests increased from 810 to 1,003.
Juvenile arrests increased by only one, from 56 to 57.
Mayor David Amrhein said the increase in crime is due to growth within the City of Zachary.
