Utilizing a binocular or small telescope, Comet PanSTARRS will probably be visible in the Baton Rouge sky for the next two weeks. Whether it will be visible with the unaided eye from this location is not yet known.

Anyone attempting to view PanSTARRS while the Sun is still above the horizon should take extreme caution that he or she does not stare at the Sun. If in doubt, one should not attempt viewing until the Sun has set.

Weather permitting, HRPO personnel will be at the Burbank Soccer Complex on selected evenings with observing equipment.

These evenings, from March 8 - 21 are listed on the HRPO website. We will attempt to obtain a low-magnification view of PanSTARRS to show the public.

Background on PanSTARRS and various links to additional information are available at the BRAS Forum.

The Highland Road Park Observatory is located at 13800 Highland Road.
