Bronco Relays take over Zachary

The 4th annual LA Farm Bureau Insurance Bronco Relays were held Friday, March 8, in Zachary with several area high schools competing.

The Zachary High Broncos hosted the event and came in second overall in both the boys’ and girls’ track and field events.

A total of 18 events were scored.

The Lady Broncos came in second with 101 points, following the ladies from St. Amant who won with 152 points.

Rounding out the top eight teams were West Feliciana, Northeast, Parkview, Port Allen, Brusly and Woodlawn.

The St. Amant boys’ won the top spot with an overall score of 137. The Zachary Bronco Boys followed in second place with 102.5 points.

In third place was Brusly, followed by West Feliciana, Port Allen, Woodlawn, Northeast, Dunham and Parkview Baptist.

Field events included the pole vault, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, javelin throw and discus throw.

Track events included the 4 x 100, 200 and 400 meter relays; the 1,600, 800 and 3,200 meter runs; the 100 and 300 meter hurdles; and the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes.

Head Coach Chris Carrier emceed the event, and volunteers included coaches, teachers, parents and many others from the Zachary community who recorded times, measured distances and scored records.
