In an effort to promote awareness of this deadly but treatable cancer, the Endoscopy Center team at Lane Regional Medical Center is wearing colon cancer awareness t-shirts throughout March for two main reasons – to honor and support their co-worker, Melinda Shelton, who is currently battling colon cancer, and to encourage people over age 50 to get a preventative colonoscopy screening.

“Having Melinda’s name on our shirts puts a face to the disease,” say director Jason Gwyn. “Early detection is the key. Screenings are done under full sedation to find those pesky polyps before they turn into cancerous tumors. This is the only way to stay one step ahead of colon cancer, the second-leading cancer in the U.S.”

Join the Lane RMC team throughout the remainder of the month as they support Shelton. Schedule your colonoscopy screening during the month of March and get a free t-shirt while supplies last!

For a physician referral, or to schedule a screening, call (225) 658-4522.
