KIWANIS HEARS FROM GP ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Joey Hebert, Georgia Pacific's Environmental Engineering Specialist, second from left,  was the guest speaker at the Aug. 17 Kiwanis meeting. Hebert helped design and construct the outdoor classroom areas at Copper Mill Elementary. Hebert said the immediate goal was to convert a storm water retention pond into a learning environment and to develop a curriculum designed to address the grade level expectations outlined by the state. The multiple learning centers include aquatic labs, observation decks, a nature trail loop, wetlands habitat, alternative energy sources and a literacy garden to name a few. Jeff and Jill Calloway opened the embroidery, silkscreen printing and ad specialty shop in Oct. 2010 but recently renovated the businesses new storefront. A ribbon cutting ceremony welcomed them to their new location. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Aug. 3 for brickmason Tim Kleinpeter of Zachary at the Chamber of Commerce. Kleinpeter, who is self-employed and fully insured, does custom brickwork such as outdoor fireplaces and kitchens and works with textiles including brick, block, stone and tile. Kleinpeter did the brickwork for the outside front entrance of the Zachary Chamber of Commerce building, 4633 Main St. Kleinpeter says he can execute just about any idea his client wishes.
