Bishop Ricky Sinclair of Miracle Place Church, front center, and from left, Ronald Holmes, Troy David, Brad Grzych, Marc Turner and Linda Rogers were among the volunteers in the successful free lunch Christmas Day at Miracle Place Church in Baker. Holmes and Grzych are members of the church; David is vice president, Local Union 335; Turner is president; and Rogers is recording secretary of the union. More than 800 meals were served and 1,500 cases of Georgia Pacific paper products were distributed. "Next year we are planning to do twice as much," Sinclair said.
Zachary firefighters respnded to the scene of a shed fire on Monday, Jan. 3, at the home of 2345 Zelmere Street and Newell. Fire Chief Boyce Smith said the new homeowner was burning limbs in his barbecue pit when the embers sparked a nearby pile of leaves and caught them on fire. The 10 x 10' foot shed was a total loss. The homeowner, who moved in just a week before the fire, lost everything in his shed, which contained a propane bottle, pressure washer, pushmowers and other items. No injuries were reported in the blaze.
PINEVILLE, La. – Members of the Louisiana Air National Guard, 122nd Air Support Operations Squadron, provide perimeter security after jumping off of a Louisiana National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk to complete an overnight field training exercise in Camp Beauregard, Pineville on Jan. 8. Ken Bordelon of Vick started 2011 with this buck of a lifetime. Bordelon killed this giant deer the afternoon of Monday, January 3, 2011 on some land in the Louisiana Delta Plantation that he and his dad farm. The buck measured at 242 4/8" with 23 total points.
