The 2nd Saturday Community Market will feature the 2nd annual Superhero 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, May 12. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the 1 mile Fun Run beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the 5k race beginning at 9 a.m.

To participate, runners must pay a $20 fee for the 5K and $15 for the 1 mile.

All proceeds benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. The $25/$20 race day registration fees include a t-shirt and race packet. Please register online at active.com.

Live musical performances begin at 10 a.m. by jazz musician Janice "Ms. JJ" Johnson.

In addition, the Zachary Area Reading Council will be on hand accepting donations of books - gently used adult and children's fiction - for its May 26 book sale.

Books can also be donated Monday, May 14, thru Friday, May 18, at Zachary Elementary on the 39th Street side between the hours of 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Collection bins will be located at the school for convenient drop-off.

As always, there will be good food, entertainment and arts and crafts just in time for Mother's Day shopping!

The 2nd Saturday Community Market will be held from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. in downtown Zachary behind the Zachary Police station and in front and near the Zachary Historical Village.
