Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. James Catholic Church in Esther, honoring the life of Anita Hebert Lege, 90, who died June 30, 2008 at East Ridge Assisted Living.
She will be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery with Rev. Mathew Mullamangalam officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Troy Lege, Wade Lege, Erin Lege, Adam Lege, Gary Chenier Jr., John and David Chenier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Guilbeau and Jonathan Guilbeau.
Anita was a member of Our Lady of the Brown Scapular Lay Carmelite Community, Ladies Altar Society and a long-time parishioner of St. James Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie Lege and his special friend, Linda Hebert and Glenn Lege and his wife, Patricia, all of Abbeville; one daughter, Carol Ann Lege Chenier and her husband, Gary, of Houston, one sister, Mamie Crochet of New Iberia, grandchildren, Gary Chenier Jr., David Chenier, John Chenier, Debra C. Martino, Troy Lege, Erick LaLande, Wade Lege, Erin Lege and Adam Lege; step grandchildren, Tricia Romero, Christopher Guilbeau and Jonathan Guilbeau; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney Lege; one granddaughter, Kim Lege; father, Mayo Hebert, mother Anna Cessac Hebert; one brother Joseph “Man” Hebert; and five sisters, Amanda Apple, May Stelly, Lillie Hebert, Ada Landry and Mary Ida Bernard.
Mrs. Lege’s family would like to express a special word of gratitude to Vera Shelvin and Eva “Toppie” Lee for their care and dedication to their mother.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Wednesday, July 2 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Thursday, July 3 from 8 a.m. from 9:30 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
