BREC ponds are now stocked with Rainbow Trout from Ava, Missouri, at four locations including Forest, Perkins Road, North Sherwood Forest and Zachary Community Parks.

BREC will hold its annual Geaux Fish Rainbow Trout Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 8:30 a.m. at Zachary Community Park, 20055 Hwy. 964, and at 12:30 p.m. at Perkins Road Community Park, 7122 Perkins Road.

The Geaux Fish Rodeos are designed to catch and release rainbow trout, which are not native fish to Louisiana.

BREC will present awards for various activities including casting contests, smallest and largest fish contests and to the family who catches the most fish.

West Marine proudly sponsors these events. They are free and open to all ages.

For more information, call 225-272-9200, ext. 435 or visit brec.org.

On days other than the rodeo on Jan. 12, the four parks will be stocked with the fish, and there is a four fish limit.
