The Best Western Zachary Inn has been working on a green program for the past year and is one of only two Best Westerns in the state to earn three "Green Keys" for Excellence in Environmentally Green Practices.

As a result, instead of disposing of their lobby furniture, an auction was held which brought in more funds than expected, General Manager Carlyn Tall told Zachary City Councilmen and Mayor David Amrhein at the city council meeting on Nov. 13.

The amount, coupled with donations received, was $1,015.04 - the monetary equivalent to the hotel's opening date of 10/15/04.

To celebrate, Best Western donated a check for $1,015.04 to the City of Zachary to be used for beautification projects within the city on Nov. 13.

Those attending the presentation included Carlyn Tall, Best Western general manager, Angela Kelly, member of the Best Western Green team, Mayor David Amrhein and City Councilmen Tommy Womack, Brandon Noel, John Coghlan, Francis Nezianya and Dan Wallis Sr.
