Zachary High's Drew Patin will be attending Meridian Community College in Meridian, Miss. next season to play for the Eagles.

Patin signed a two-year scholarship to play golf at MCC, Mississippi's only Division I Junior College golf program, which includes a second-place team finish and first-place individual finish (Brandt Garon) in the 2010 NJCAA Div. I Men's Golf National Championship, among other national awards.

"Drew is a hard worker, and he has a God-given ability," said Clark Engemann, ZHS head golf coach. "We're so excited for him."

Patin's dad, Blaine Patin, and grandparents were also on hand when he signed, as were his teammates and friends.

Patin has been playing since the age of seven and his first coach was his dad, Blaine Patin. "I'm very proud of him. He set his sights on something and didn't stop until he achieved his goal," said Blaine Patin.

Meridian's recent golf roster includes players who have won the Arnold Palmer award (2010) and Jack Nicklaus award (2011). "I've been dreaming about this since I was little," said Patin, of receiving a scholarship to play golf.
