Much has changed since the city employee fitness challenge began July 5 - mainly, the eating habits of Zachary employees.

The race to lose is on, and employees are diligently replacing treats such as birthday cake with fresh fruit.

For Mayor David Amrhein's birthday recently, several employees

snacked on strawberries, pineapple and melon instead of sugary-sweet cake. Bravo, employees, for sticking with it!

Fitness Design by Women, L.I.F.E. and Lane Regional Medical Center's Wellness Works program are the sponsors of the "biggest loser" weight-loss challenge, and they periodically measure the percentage of weight each employee loses.

Final weigh-ins will be held Oct. 5 and 8, and the individual with the highest percentage of weight loss will receive a whopping $1,000!

Next time you see a participating Zachary city employee, encourage them to keep up the challenge!
