NEW ORLEANS – Services for attorney, banker and former Rex, king of carnival William Young, Jr,. will be Monday. He died Jan. 245 at age 96.
He was a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran pf World War II, former chairman of the Metropolitan Crime Commission, past president of The Navy League of the United States and a member of the boards of Jackson Homestead and Pelican Homestead.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne, four sons and four daughters.
Arrangements are by Lake Lawn, Metairie.
Paleontologist
HARAHAN – Services are Monday for noted paleontogist John Dunlap, Jr. He died Jan. 27 at age 79.
He was an original partner of PaleoData and was a founding member of the Eisenhower Center at the University of New Orleans with Stephen Ambrose. The center was the forerunner of the World War II Museum.
Survivors include his wife Alma, a son and a daughter.
Arrangements were by Lake Lawn, Metairie.
Baptist missions director
SPRINGHILL – Services for retired Louisiana Baptist Convention Director of Missions Rev. Kenneth Everett are Monday. He died Jan. 26 at age 85.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was pastor of Central Baptist, Springhill for 15 years. He also served churches in Texas and Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, four sons and a daughter.
Arrangements were by Bailey.
Pioneer physician
SHREVEPORT – Services for Dr. Emily Jones, one of the first female doctors in Northwest Louisiana, will be Monday. She died Jan. 26 at age 82.
A graduate of LSU Medical School, she had a OB/GYN practice in Shreveport/Bossier City for 50 years.

Retired McIlhenny chairman
AVERY ISLAND – Services are Monday for businessman and civic leader Edward McIlhenny Simmons. He died Jan. 28 at age 83.
He was retired chairman of the board of McIlhenny Company and president of Avery Island Inc. He was active on the boards of Cleco, First National Bank of Commerce, Pan American Life and the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana, among others.
He was on the boards of the National Audubon Society, Ochsner Foundation and other non-profit organizations.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters.

Retail leader
LAFAYETTE – Services for former Montgomery Ward’s manager Sidney Schilhab will be Monday. He died Jan. 25 at age 85.
He had a long career with Montgomery Ward and was the manager of the Northgate Mall store for years. He also owned Speedee Oil Change and was chairman of the Retail Merchants Association.
Survivors include his wife, Georgie, a son and two daughters.
Arrangements were by Fountain Memorial.
