SHREVEPORT – Services for former metropolitan newspaper reporter and printer James Elliott, Jr. will be July 7. He died June 13 at age 88.
He was a U.S. Armyveteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was reporter for the Nashville, Tenn. Banner and The Chicago Sun-Times before buying an advertising agency and helping launch Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken nationwide. He then purchased an Insty-Prints franchise in Shreveport, becoming an industry leader.
Survivors include his wife Eugenia, four sons and a daughter.
Neurosciences pioneer
SHREVEPORT – Services for Dr. John Moossy, a pioneer in the development of the neurosciences, will be in Shepherdstown, W.V.
He taught and did research at Tulane, LSU and Columbia as well as other universities. He was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology for 10 years.
Survivors include a son and a daughter.

Air Liquide GM
METAIRIE – Services for Billy Guess, retired general manager of Air Liquide, will be Monday. He died June 13 at age 90.
He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II and held the Purple Heart.
Survivors include two daughters.
