East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, left, was the guest speaker at the Zachary Rotary Club's Thursday, Sept. 9 meeting. Sheriff Gautreaux and Rotary President Danette Castello dedicated a book to ZHS. The Rotary meeting, which is usually held at the Zachary Police Department, was held at the Zachary High School Academic and Athletic Center.
Sheriff Gautreaux discussed EBRSO goals and improvements since taking office as sheriff in 2007.
Rotary President Danette Castello has instituted a new tradition at the service organization's weekly meetings. She and the Zachary High School Interact Club have joined together to help promote literacy and reading amongst students throughout the Zachary Community School District.
Every Rotary guest speaker signs and dedicates a book on behalf of the ZHS Interact Club (a junior Rotary club), and that book is then donated to a Zachary school.
Sheriff Gautreaux signed and dedicated "Vanishing Act" by Jodi Picoult. The book will be donated to Zachary High.
Gautreaux was the guest of Rotarian Charlene Smith.
