EBRSO seizes 62 marijuana plants, arrests one woman

According to a press release issued Monday, Aug. 16, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s SCAT and SWAT teams executed a search warrant Friday night, Aug. 13, at 15334 Schafer Ave. in which deputies seized 62 marijuana plants and nine pounds of suspected marijuana.

Deputies arrested Adrienne Smith, 34, for cultivation of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, the press release stated. The 15334 Schafer Ave. home is located south of Old Hammond Highway and west of O'Neal Lane.

According to reports, deputies found 62 marijuana plants ranging from six inches to 5 ½ feet in height, nine pounds of suspected marijuana, drug ledgers (written instructions on marijuana growth, charts and feeding schedules), two digital weight scales, a large tent used to cultivate and house marijuana plants, a humidifier and heat blankets, heat lamps, marijuana seeds, fluorescent grow lights and two marijuana smoking devices.

This investigation is still underway by the EBRSO.
